The club owes its formation both from the wish of the Woollahra Council to improve the area where the club now stands, and also from a move made by a group of residents adjacent to and surrounding this area to form a bowling club. On July 4, 1942 the club was officially opened by His Worship the Mayor of Woollahra, Keith Manion, in the presence of Percy Pidgeon President of the Royal NSW Bowling Association.
| The first meeting was held in the clubhouse on July 17, 1942. In the first year, the membership was 46, made up of 39 full members and 7 social members. The first President elected after the Club commenced playing was the late Mark Harris and the first President’s Day was held on March 20, 1943. |

The Club is ideally situated in the valley surrounded by the hills of Bellevue Hill, Woollahra and Edgecliff. Anyone entering the Club through the front gates cannot fail to be impressed by the beauty of the setting. The Clubhouse faces outward to the No. 1 green, with the other two greens extending southwards. The whole area is surrounded by greenery, trees, shrubs and flowers in the rich tones of the particular season.

It is evident that from the outset it had been intended to develop the club in a garden atmosphere. The club is therefore in itself a tribute to those pioneers and early members who gave so much by way of effort and gifts to establish this wonderful Club. |
